About the Speakers:

Kerry McDonald (USA) works at the intersection of education and enterprise, spotlighting the entrepreneurs who are building creative schooling options across the United States. She is a Senior Fellow at the Foundation for Economic Education, where she leads the Education Entrepreneurship Lab and hosts the LiberatED podcast. She is also the Velinda Jonson Family Education Fellow at State Policy Network, an adjunct scholar at the Cato Institute, and a regular contributor at Forbes.com and The 74. Kerry is the bestselling author of Unschooled: Raising Curious, Well-Educated Children Outside the Conventional Classroom (Chicago Review Press, 2019), and the author of the forthcoming book, Joyful Learning: How To Find Freedom, Happiness, and Success Beyond Conventional Schooling (Hachette, 2025). She has a BA in economics from Bowdoin College and a master’s degree in education policy from Harvard University. A mom of four, Kerry lives in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

Alexandre Moreira (BRA) is a dedicated legal scholar and practitioner with over 20 years of experience in education law, human rights, and policy development. Currently pursuing a PhD in Law at KU Leuven, he focuses on developing human rights-based curriculum frameworks for equitable and culturally sensitive education, particularly for faith-based and diverse communities. He holds an LL.M. from Vanderbilt University and a Bachelor of Law from Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais. As an attorney at Brazil’s Central Bank since 2002 and former National Secretary of Global Protection at the Ministry of Human Rights (2019-2020), he has shaped national policies promoting inclusive education and empowering underserved communities. His advocacy work includes founding the National Network of Pro-Family Professionals in Brazil and serving on the Global Homeschool Exchange board (2013-2019). He actively contributes to global education policy through publications like “The Theory of Curricular Rights” (2025) and articles in the International Journal of Education Law and Policy, while training professionals and policymakers on education law and parental rights to foster community-driven education models.

Or Sofer (ISR) is the CEO of Freeth’m, committed to building decentralized, self-sufficient towns. With over 20 years of leadership experience, he’s managed real estate projects and factories, founded a successful Hong Kong business, and launched the company Blooming, exporting biodegradable products globally. Inspired by thinkers like Ayn Rand and Marcus Aurelius, Or enjoys nature, chess, football, and meaningful conversations.

Michael Strong (USA) is founder and CEO of The Socratic Experience, a virtual school for entrepreneurial, creative, and intellectual students. He is also the author of The Habit of Thought: From Socratic Seminars to Socratic Practice and Be the Solution: How Entrepreneurs and Conscious Capitalists Can Solve All the World’s Problems.

About the Moderator:

Beatriz Santos (POR) is the Chief Communications Officer (CCO) at We Are Innovation. She is based in Lisbon, Portugal. Beatriz started publishing articles through her University newspaper and eventually moved to national and international reach outlets, including the well known Portuguese outlets NOVO and Observador. Her professional career includes international communications experience with the ATREVIA agency and the European Parliament. She also has two published books and is an essential part of the Students For Liberty organization in Portugal. With a focus on positive change and global cooperation, Beatriz actively seeks partnerships across the globe to promote innovative initiatives.
